  • Some People Can't See Past Their Own Nose...

I know, that title may not have made sense, but it's an old saying that dates back... to........ whenever...

ANYWAYS... I looked in a discussion forum today and I saw that a guy had started a conversation about being broke and jobless. I thought to myself, I can relate to this! Jobs are hard to get these days! I mean, I'm not too worried about it myself because I have some other things going on with the military that  doesn't really belong in this blog, but I quickly started feeling bad for this guy because as I read on in the forum, other people started tearing him up! One person even posted, "this may not be the best way to get cash quick, I would recommend getting a job." Isn't that just a stupid asshole thing to say???????

You know, I can understand that in life, you gotta get a job and make a living, and everyone with a job and a good income is supposed to look down at people with no job and no money and thus the world goes around... But ya gotta see the way things are. Gotta look at the whole picture. College grads end up working at McD's. War Vets are homeless. It's hard to get jobs because the companies can't afford more employees. They can't afford employees because  they don't get enough business. They don't get enough business because customers buy from other businesses... bigger businesses... more well-known businesses... more advertised businesses... And those bigger, more well known businesses aren't doing much with the money they make. They sit on it and save it (which is what more people should do. I know my momma taught me to save my money, too).

And so we continue on this path of financial destruction, and the people who are moving up continue to spit on the little guy who can't get his first job because he has never had a job before. And I'm gonna keep giving a dollar to the guy dressed in rags holding a cardboard sign on the off-ramp. Yeah, I know it's probably just some scheme, but no one wants to dress up like that and stand there, even if it does pay well. I don't care what lie the sign states. He (or she... though I've never honestly seen a female out there) is at least circulating the money.

They aren't the criminals, the major corporations are!!

  • People Drive Me Nuts!

Seriously, I'm getting so fed up with the people I have to deal with. People I don't even know. People who do things like:

Inching forward at a red light.

Stopping past the white line at a red light.

Standing in a doorway when there's another person trying to get through.

Leaving their turn signal on  indefinitely after merging.

Not realizing that other people are trying to tell them they left their signal on.

Trying to merge into my trailer, not realizing that there is a trailer behind my truck.

Leaving a box of crackers or bag of chips in the pantry with nothing but crumbs in it.

Leaving a baking pan or other items in the oven while the oven is not in use (leaving me to find out after I preheat it for myself).

Ignoring their misbehaving kids in public (and at home).

Ignoring their well behaved kids in public (and at home).

Relying on the school system to teach their kids right and wrong, and then unintentionally undermining everything the school taught.

Telling everyone they support the troops, but then say something to the effect of wishing the troops were unemployed (i.e., "End the war!" and "We have no business 'Over there'.")

    Saying "Over there".

Talking about anything they don't really know about (i.e., anything).

Believing the first thing they hear, but not the second about the same thing, no matter how wrong the first, and how right the second.

Generally, not accepting the truth for what it is, no matter how obvious.

Killing another human being for what they call, "Not respecting them" when the person the killed has no idea who they are, or why they deserve respect... especially when they kill for such a petty reason.

Painting graffiti "tags" for gangs they are not members of, in places the gangs would never be in.

Laughing at their own bad jokes.

Filing lawsuits for something that is clearly their own fault.

    Racism.

    Sexism.

Forming opinions of hate without knowing everything there is to know about whatever or whoever it is they hate.

    Taking a joke too personally.

    Refusing to relax.

    Being a hypochondriac.

Talking about other religions in a negative manner, with a "matter-of-fact" demeanor, but being incorrect  about every "fact" they talk about.

Not understanding that not everyone will fit in the same rules and laws.

Needing a social queue before laughing at a joke.

Overusing words like "martyr" and "literally".

    Using "un-words" like "irregardless".

Griping about other people using "air-quotes".

Paying thousands of dollars for something that looks like it was salvaged from a dumpster.

Claiming they know how to cook, when all they do is follow the recipe.

Being fat and not knowing it.

    Being anti-anything.

    Making stupid commercials.

    Making stupid shows.

Believing anything the news says about government or military.

Knowing they are fat and not doing anything about it.

    Lying about obvious truths.

    Eating with their mouth open.

    Drinking air with their beverage.

Not knowing anything about a car except how to make it go.

Making a car go unreasonably too fast, not knowing how to make it react to the road properly.

Not accepting that it is possible to "feel" the road and the car as if it is an extension of one's body.

    Texting while driving.

    Not driving while driving.

Rolling down a freeway on-ramp at 20 mph, cutting into 55 mph traffic still at only 20 mph, jumping into the fast lane an THEN slamming it up to 80 mph.

    Tailgating.

Accepting lack of knowledge about basic everyday subjects.

Claiming to be professional on something that even I know more about.

Crying about minor bruises, physical and emotional (I mean real tears and everything type crying. It's okay to gripe).

Allowing little kids to scream (except during real emergencies).

Not replacing or repairing squeaky brakes.

Not putting things away when finished using them.

Not knowing when they are not wanted.

PEOPLE WHO POST NEGATIVE COMMENTS ABOUT SOMETHING THEY DIDN'T READ.

I could go on and on!!!!

  • Work? What's Work?

You know... I just saw an episode of "Frasier" (Yeah... I know... But it's not my fault.), and I noticed a that he and his father were arguing about everything that was going on in their home, then his lady friend who lived there came home. She cleaned up and fixed everything in merely a few seconds and didn't even think about it, and went to her room.

    I couldn't stop thinking... "That's me..."

  • Home Sweet Home... Kinda

Well, don't let the title fool you. I'm very happy to be home from Iraq. I get to see my family, my wife, my daughter, everyone that I missed. But I miss the deployment. It's not just the stupid drivers on the road, the crappy wages at a shitty job, or the average American hating who I am and what I did for a living. There's something else there that I miss. I guess it was the ease of life, the simplicity, the calm, and maybe even the money.
Well, in short, I've decided that if (and the odds are this will happen) I can't go active duty like I want to, I will be re-deploying with the KY National Guard in the summer. This will be my 4th tour if it happens. I'm actually very excited because this deployment will be in Afghanistan, a place I've never been before. I've seen pics from other service members, it looks very green and beautiful. Can't wait to see it in person.
But even if I do get to go active duty this fall, I will be just as excited. Because there is no better way to secure my future than by serving in the US Military.

    minor inconveniences adding up

Unexpected work blindsided me the other day. I hate that.
AH! okay, so, I'm at the coffee shop, where I've been going lately to access the internet, because the tents we moved into have no power and crap for WiFi. I walked in with my laptop case in hand, sat down at a table, pulled out the computer and a mouse and a set of headphones. Set up in no time. But what's this? THE MOUSE ACTS FUNNY ON A TABLE THAT HAS CLEVER SPECKLES ALL OVER THE SURFACE!!! figures... And I don't have a mouse pad.
Well, I could always take my shirt off and use that, but people might get mad.
Now my coffee is getting cold. Blech

  • A Griping Post...

Aww, man. So many things are pissing me off lately. Where to start?
Common courtesy. Why can't we be polite to eachother anymore? So many people are caught up in the whole "badass" thing these days. Listen up badasses, if you think being tough is the best way to get my respect, YOU'RE WRONG. In fact, I hate you! If you think that talking crap is gonna get you on my good side, who the hell dropped you on your head as a child? Listen up, respect is a two way street, and I'll give whatever seems practical until I know what kind of person you are. I know what you're thinking, "Well, I don't need to impress you! I don't care what you think about me!" I've got news for you, I'm not the only one who thinks that your nothing but a pain in the ass. I'm a small part of "everyone," and if you have more enemies than friends in this world, your life will not be easy and you're screwing yourself over. So, yeah, you do need to impress me. You need to impress everyone, and being a crap-talking "tough" badass is NOT going to do it. Have fun with your dead-end job.
Who the hell is in charge of designing packages for so many products on the market these days? Did they ever think that people who buy things might actually want to get it out of the package? Or did they seriously just assume that people buy things to put on the table and stare at in the package it came in? You know what I'm talking about. Plastic packaging that requires tin-snips to open. Do most people even HAVE tin snips??? I'm gonna buy a pair of tin snips, just so I can open things that I buy. I'll have to borrow someone else's tin snips to open my new ones.

    Video Game Experts

Some people sit and play these games waaayyyyy too long. My roommates and I enjoy playing Modern Warfare 2, and we're about the same skill level, which is good for us. Keeps it fun. So today we invited another guy over to play (shoulda known better) and he just layed waste to us. It was horrible. How does someone get that good? I saw the replay on the last time he killed me, it was so smooth, it was beautiful. Like he knew exactly where I was and what he wanted to do way before it happened. He came around the corner, rushed ten feet, and knifed me to death. He's too quick! I got a few shots in there, I killed him three times in the game, but it was just unreasonable.
I think he needs to stick to his own class, and play against others in his OWN skill level. It's just not fun when you know who's gonna win.

    Good Quote

"I wondered if people back home would ever know what it costs the soldiers to end this war. In America, things were already beginning to look like peacetime. The standard of living was on the rise, racetracks and nightclubs were booming, you couldn't get a hotel room in Miami beach, it was so crowded. How could anyone ever know of the price paid by soldiers in terror, agony and bloodshed if they'd never been to places like Normandy, Bastogne, or Haguenau?"

    winter is ending...

I can tell, I can smell it. Smells like Iraqi summer. The heat is getting ready to rush through this land. The breeze is intimidating, threatening to carry it's payload of heat and drop it on us like a bomb. And just in time for the Winter Olympics!
Funny thing about those Olympic Games, winter south of the equator happens at a completely different time of year than north of the equator. I guess the athletes from down south will just have to cope. If they are good at what they do, they can do it no matter what month it is.
As for the Iraqi heat, I'm staying indoors as much as possible. And I still can't wait to leave this place.
